Wilderpark coasted to a comfortable 9-2 victory over newcomers Green Street Green Rovers at Cudham Recreation Ground on Saturday. It was the highest score attained by the Park for several years.
Dave Hobby returned to the back four in place of the suspended Steve Burgess, Steve Henniker deputised in goal for the unavailable Lewis Hughes, Paul Burgess and Tor Osman returned to the team, the former on the substitutes bench.
To their credit Rovers never gave up trying but the gap between the two teams was very noticeable. The more experienced Park side with good movement and accurate passing were always in charge of the proceedings.
Rovers had a spirited start to the second half but once the visitors increased their lead goals then followed at frequent intervals. Also on target were Payne who thus completed his hat trick, Jim Hagon, Dave Hobby, Ollie Barnes and Alex David.
Probably the best goal of the afternoon came just before the final whistle when a Rovers player picked up the ball on the right beating three players before unleashing a tremendous shot which thundered into the back of the net.
