After what has generally been accepted as the longest break in local football dating back to December Wilderpark’s season once again gets under way.
The 1st XI suffered a 4-1 defeat against Otford United Reserves at Otford Recreation Ground which followed other defeats against Ightham and St. Lawrence at intervals over recent weeks.
It was a disappointing reverse but due to woeful defending and also not helped by unavailability of players. The Park enjoyed much of the possession and should not have trailed at the half way mark by a single goal. Better finishing in front of goal would have seen the Park well in command but it was not to be.
The second half followed a not dissimilar pattern but the Park failed to defend in depth and suffered the consequences. Neil Cutts netted the Park’s consolation goal.
There was better news for the Reserves who defeated Hildenborough Athletic 3rd 1-0. The Park were generally on top throughout and the winning goal coming through Jason Lee.
It was a pleasing result after crashing out of the Smiths Leagues Junior Cup at the semi-final stage against AW London when they had enough first half chances to have booked a final place.
This coming Saturday March 15 the 1st XI are away to Fleetdown United B while the Reserves entertain Westerham Reserves at Raleys Field, both matches KO at 2.00pm.
